When I first moved to Atlanta, I remember my friend Carey warning me that almost every restaurant in Atlanta served some form of tacos. That was seven years ago and I’ve gotta admit, Carey wasn’t too far off. So over the years I’ve definitely sampled some of the best tacos this city has to offer and after extensive and thorough (and delicious) investigation, The Original El Taco takes the crown.
Margaritas: Holiday Pour!
After a long and tough week, who wouldn’t be up for a pitcher of margaritas and a straw? Okay that may be overdoing it, but El Taco does a girl right with their house margarita by serving it up in a tall glass. Their classic margarita is a great balance between sweet and salty that I challenge you to stop at just one. Plus, for some added fun, El Taco’s Wheel of Taco is spun every hour on the hour. If you’re holding the winning token you could win a free pitcher of this lovely libation, special swag, or free chips and salsa!

. Endless Salsa Bar
One of my favorite features of El Taco is their Salsa Bar. Usually offering 5 different types of delicious salsa, I can never remember which is my favorite so I like to grab a mini cup of each and just alternate bites between all five. You really can’t go wrong with this approach.
THE Fried Chicken Taco
It’s been a long standing argument between my friends and I about which chicken taco is the best at El Taco; the fried chicken taco or the smoked chicken taco. Usually our group is split pretty evenly but this is my blog and what I say goes. The fried chicken taco is not only El Taco’s best but the city of Atlanta’s best. Surprisingly, I think it’s the corn and chili mayo combo that makes the difference. All of the flavors are fresh and unique. They blend together nicely instead of overpowering the chicken which is always fried to perfection. Trust me, order 2 when you make your way to El Taco. 1 just won’t suffice.
