{Cynthia Rowley, Christian Siriano, Reem Acra}
New York Fashion Week definitely snuck up on my this year. But now that I’ve indulged in all of the gorgeous looks and styles, I’m so ready for a change of seasons. If the runways are any indication, this coming Spring season is going to be a bit more silly, frilly, and colorful than previous seasons. We’ve got ruffles, bows, and pretty much every color Crayola can think of. So yea, I’m pumped and ready to go for Spring.
Trend: Ruffle Kerfuffle
{Karen Walker, Alice + Olivia, Rodarte}
The biggest trend coming out of NYFW were all of the ruffles. Whether they were layered over each other, or use sparingly, ruffles were the stars of almost every show. And while these are usually considered more of a girlish and frilly accent, a number of designers used them in more modern and grunge looks.

Trend: Here Comes the Sun
{3.1 Phillip Lim, Tory Burch, Self Portrait}
Color was everywhere, but by far designers were leaning towards the sunnier and mellow yellows for full looks and ensembles. In some instances, this shade was the only use of color in entire collections. It’s a great departure from the muted pastels we’ve been seeing in previous fashion weeks.

Trend: Cold Shoulder
{Kate Spade, Whistles, Vivienne Tam}
This is a trend that started out with the masses and has finally made it’s way to the runways. Off-The-Shoulder blouses, rompers, and dresses have been hugely popular for several seasons now and don’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, you may start seeing even more of them which is fine with me because I can’t get enough.

Trend: Peek-A-Boo
{Coach 1941, Narciso Rodriguez, Pamella Roland}
Designers must be expecting some pretty high temps next year because many a garment walked the runway with very sheer fabrics adorned with well-placed appliques to avoid any sort of wardrobe malfunction. This is a trend I’ll be interested to see translate into retail and real-life since it’s not often that an event or situation is presented where a completely sheer ensemble is apropos.

Trend: Metal Heads
{Carolina Herrera, Rachel Zoe, Diane von Furstenberg}
Metallics have been on the fringe of designer collections for a couple of seasons now but they are starting to make the move to the main stage. And it’s not just silvers and golds anymore. Copper and bronze hues are also beginning to come into the mix which is perfect since they go so well with a Summer tan.

Trend: Get Waisted
{Monique Lhuillier, JCrew, Zac Posen}
This was the most surprising trend for me this year. Overstated, waist-synching bows were everywhere this year. As a curvy girl, I love a synched waist and the designers showed a lot of great ways to adapt the look from style to style.
