This past weekend, Emily and I had the great pleasure of being invited to the private launch of Melànie D, an amazing jewelry designer from right outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Melànie’s pieces are one-of-a-kind and nothing short of breath-taking. Emily and I quickly did a quick tour of the ballroom to “ooooh” and “aaaah” over the incredible works of art made up of precious stones like pink and orange sapphires, rubellite tourmaline, and morganite.
Melànie and I both share a love of all things Old Hollywood, and a belief that there’s no such thing as too much sparkle, at least when it comes to jewelry. Melànie has a beautiful story about how she felt called to jewelry design that I won’t spoil here. Check out her website to read about what brought her to create these stunning collections as well as get a closer look at some of her stand-out pieces.
What I found truly fascinating about Melànie and her pieces was that she doesn’t let anything inhibit her design. She’s a very organic designer who moves from different pieces in different collections as her mind and imagination dictates. This is probably a great explanation for why each collection feels so interconnected to each other.
This private launch included over 60 pieces on display for everyone to gawk and fawn over. Emily and I did several circles around the party and just could never decide on which pieces where our favorites. For me it was a toss up between a sizeable opal ring in the Empress Collection or the red flower earrings in the Belle Âme Collection.
