I’ve always loved not wearing a ton of make-up. I fully acknowledge that I’m lucky that my skin doesn’t need a lot, but I also just hate the feeling of tons of make-up. However, as I enter my 30’s my skin is starting to need a bit more attention before I leave the house. So with that in mind, I’ve upgraded some of my favorite make-up tools and products and have created a make-up look that I can use in any situation or with really any look. It’s a day-to-night make-up regimen that works with every lipstick in my arsenal. The overall theme is still to look as natural as possible, just making smarter choices regarding what I’m using on my skin and how I’m using it. Hope you enjoy this little tutorial!
What You’ll Need: Primer | Liquid Foundation or a No-Foundation Foundation | Foundation Powder | Under-eye Stick | Highlighter | Powder Bronzer | Soft Pink/Peach Blush | Nude Eye Shadow | Nude Eye Liner | Eye Brow Pencil | Mascara | Natural Lipstick | Neon Lipstick | Dramatic Lipstick
Step 1: Apply primer to your entire face
Step 2: Apply your foundation (or non-foundation if you’re like me)
Step 3: Set your foundation with a quality, loose-powder foundation like Bare Minerals
Step 4: Use the under-eye stick to brighten the skin around your eyes. For a quick refresher course, here’s my how-to on making your eyes appear brighter
Step 5: Apply your highlighter on any area of your face that the sun would naturally hit. for me that would be the top of my cheeckbones, hairline, bridge of my nose, and my cupid’s bow. Use your middle or ring finger to blend the highlighter
Step 6: Using a feather brush, swipe your powder bronzer across all areas where you blended the highlighter. This will help accentuate those areas. This is similar to the idea of strobing (as a note, strobing is when you add light to your face, versus contouring which is adding shadows to your face)
Step 7: Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards toward your temple (Here’s my how-to on getting that perfect dewy cheek)
Step 8: Using your eyebrow pencil or pen, fill-in your eyebrows
Step 9: Apply a skin-toned eye shadow to your eyelids and brow bones
Step 10: Using eyeliner that is one shade lighter than your skin-tone, line the top lid and lower waterline of your eyes
Step 11: Apply mascara to both lower and upper lashes. For lighter skin tones, a dark brown mascara is perfect, but if you have darker skin tones a black mascara works just as well.
