Charleston is similar to Atlanta in the sense that brunch is basically a social Sunday must. It’s everywhere and it’s always delicious. On my last trip to Charleston, I met up with some friends who wanted to introduce me to a new brunch spot a bit off the beaten path in Charleston. Park Cafe, located off Rutledge Ave, is a warm spot that specializes in keeping things simple and quality. Their menu’s are short and sweet but full of flavor.
Starter: Avocado Toast
My friends raved about the avocado toast as a must side item for any and all entree. Park Cafe spices up their toast with chili flakes, lemon, and chives. As a whole, it packs a bit of punch that is missing from a lot of your more traditional southern brunch menus.

Morning Sunshine: Granola
If you like to keep breakfast or brunch simple and light then you’ll love this basic granola and yogurt breakfast. First, the presentation can’t help but put a smile on your face with it’s sunny design. The fruits are exactly what a health-nut would want in their morning meal and the honey acts as a natural sweetener that helps to blend the other ingredients together perfectly.
Indulge: Bacon & Egg Sandwich
If you’re like me, you need a little animal mixed in with your breakfast. Try the fried egg sandwich and get a little of that non-traditional avocado toast on top of a traditional fried egg sandwich with bacon. It comes with a grapefruit to banish any lingering guilt you may have for breaking any ill-advised diets.
