This past weekend I took a much needed vacation and flew out west to spend too few days with my longtime bestest friend, Amber. We’ve known each other since the 8th grade, but didn’t truly become inseparable until college. I didn’t know much about Denver, except from what I’ve seen of it on Amber and her husband’s Instagram and Facebook feeds so I was pretty much open to doing and seeing whatever they wanted to show me. They also have two beautiful children that I was dying to play and snuggle with. Camden is mischief personified and too cute for his own good. Emerson is the sweetest little cuddle bug with the chubbiest cheeks I’ve ever seen. I’m committed to making sure they grow up to be Clemson Tigers 😉 .
Amber obviously knows my love for good food, so she lined up an amazing itinerary of dinning locales for me to try. The one that definitely bears mention was our lunch stop at D’Deli in Downtown Golden. WOWZAS!!!! I had the Jolly Olly which was like brunswick stew in sandwich form. Now I’ve gotta figure out how to get a D’Deli opened up in Atlanta.
Sight-seeing was obviously mountain-centric; I even got to see the Continental Divide (sorry no pictures of that particular sight). I’ve now learned the difference between a valley and a canyon, so we can mark this trip as educational. Me and Chad are hoping to talk Amber into letting us go hang gliding next time since jumping off of Lookout Mountain seemed to be the thing to do. Before I had to fly out Sunday, I had to make a stop at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. This place has probably one of the best views of Denver and is the spot for concert goers of all varieties. All in all, this was such a great vacation and I can’t wait to get back to see Amber, Chadwick, the kids… and those sandwiches!
