When I first moved to Atlanta, Lisa and I lived in an amazing apartment in the Highlands part of town. We lived there for 3 years but never really took advantage of the area, instead favoring the Buckhead scene. So it’s rather ironic that once we moved to other parts of town we started to take notice of all the Highlands had to offer. One of those places is Sotto Sotto on N. Highland Ave. If you haven’t been, bump this place up to the top of your “MUST” list. And let me know when you do, I’m looking for any excuse to get back ASAP.
The Dish of Dreams
First of all, you can’t go wrong with any one of the risotto’s on this decadent menu. I just happen to be partial to the mushroom risotto. I got the first course size because I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep to just one dish, but I sort of wished I had gotten a main course size because I just couldn’t get enough. This risotto is the thing my dreams are made of. It’s perfectly savory and just really hit the spot. The Risotto Mantecato is also amazing if you’re looking for something a touch sweeter. Basically, when in doubt, go with the risotto.
Twice as Nice
So I have this thing where I can’t turn down a menu that has duck on it. It’s just so delicious. So when I saw Sotto Sotto had a pasta dish with a duck ragu, I knew this would be second course item. Plus I saw someone at the next table over order it, and it made my mouth water upon sight. If I hadn’t been in such a public place, this dish would have had me licking the plate at the end. Best part, I ordered this dish in a main course size so I had enough to take home and enjoy again later. Gosh, I make great decisions.
Dessert with a Twist
Panacotta is one of those dishes I’m always a bit wary of. The consistency can just very easily put me off. But, since everything had tasted so perfect up to this point, I had to give it a try. Let the indulgence continue! The twist? The Balsamic glaze drizzled on top. Balsamic isn’t your typical dessert ingredient but the first bite had me saying “Oh? OOHH!” Give it a try when you go. Be adventurous and you won’t regret it.
